How KnowDish makes money

Every number on this site says where it came from. The same standard should apply to our own revenue.

Last updated: 25 August 2026

1. What we earn today

Nothing. As of 25 August 2026, KnowDish carries no advertising, has no affiliate partnerships, and has never been paid by any provider listed on the site.

When that changes, this page changes with it — and it changes before the money arrives, not after.

2. What we expect to earn in future

Two things, and we would rather say so now than explain it later.

Affiliate commissions.

A brand pays us when a reader we sent to them becomes a customer. You never pay more because you arrived through us, and the commission is the same whether the brand ranks first or last.

Licensing the underlying data.

Behind this site is a record of how nutrition and prices across UK meal delivery change over time — reformulations, price rises, portions that quietly shrink. We expect to license that analysis to brands, researchers and analysts. It is a separate product, sold to a separate audience, and nothing bought there affects anything published here.

Our Terms of Use reserve broader rights than this, because a contract has to cover what a business might one day do. This page tells you what we actually do.

3. What is not for sale, at any price

This list is the point of the page. No commercial arrangement — existing, future, affiliate or otherwise — buys any of the following:

  • A place in a ranking, or a better one.
  • A rating, or a change to one.
  • Inclusion in the catalogue, or faster inclusion.
  • A correction handled faster than the same correction from a brand that pays us nothing.
  • The removal of a competitor from a comparison.
  • Sight of our figures before they publish.

Brands are welcome to send us data about their own products, and some of them will have to, because a few refuse automated access to the pages that carry their nutrition. We are building a route for that. It will be free, the figures will still need a public source or a photograph of the pack behind them, and anything supplied that way will be labelled as supplied rather than read.

4. Where you would see a commission

At the link, not only on this page. A link that earns us money will say that it does, where you are about to click it.

And it will never be the only way out. Every commission-earning link will sit beside a plain link to the same brand that earns us nothing, on the same page, in the same place — so taking the route that pays us nothing never requires you to go looking for it.

5. How to check any of this

Rankings here are computed from published figures by a method we describe in full, using inputs you can inspect one by one.

  • How it works — the method, including what a metric does when a value is missing.
  • Brands we cover — every provider on the site, and why some carry less data than others.

If you find a ranking our published method does not explain, that is a fault worth reporting, and we would rather hear it than not.
