Methodology version 1
Broad estimates, shown with their limits
Optional nutrition personalisation compares published meal data with a broad range. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or replace advice from a qualified professional.

We use the adult Henry weight-and-height basal metabolic rate equations selected by the UK Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN), then apply a range of physical-activity-level values based on the activity category you choose. An estimate needs age, sex used for calculation, height, weight and activity. If any is unavailable, we do not invent it.
Daily values are rounded outwards to the nearest 100 kcal. The prepared-meal comparison range is 25–35% of that daily estimate, rounded outwards to 50 kcal. This meal share is a product-comparison assumption—not a recommendation to split every day into equal meals.
Protein
The baseline comes from the UK adult reference intake of 0.75g per kilogram of body weight. Broader exercise ranges use British Dietetic Association guidance: 0.75–1.2g/kg for 1–2 weekly sessions, 1.2–1.8g/kg for 3–4, and 1.4–2.0g/kg for 5 or more. These categories are deliberately broad.
The meal benchmark uses 30% of the lower daily value, rounded to 5g with a 20g floor. If you chose a higher protein threshold in the main questions, that explicit preference wins.
How this changes ranking
Each available personal benchmark is a separate, modestly weighted dimension alongside your original priorities. A provider earns credit for the share of indexed meals meeting it. Missing provider data remains unknown and lowers evidence coverage; it is never treated as a match or zero. Skipping the section produces the original ranking exactly.
Important limits
- For adults aged 18–79 only.
- Not suitable for pregnancy, clinical conditions, eating-disorder care or specialist sports programmes.
- Self-reported activity is approximate, and actual needs vary.
- Provider nutrition data can be missing, change, or use different serving definitions.
- Results compare the current indexed catalogue; they do not judge the suitability of an entire diet.
